My very first solo exhibition will not take place in France but in Taipei, Taiwan. The details and dates are on the poster above.
It brings me immense joy to share this with you today, but I cannot resist a brief historical reminder.
In nearly ten years on the art scene, not a single French gallery has offered me the slightest opportunity.
Yet, my work is appreciated on the other side of the world.
True artists only find luck and a future in civilized countries, thousands of kilometers away from home.
As long as France has a Ministry of Culture handing out subsidies, the art world will remain the exclusive domain of sycophants, and nothing will ever be possible.
The same applies to almost every sector.
Professional life in France is hell. People are either neurotic and depressed or psychotic and obnoxious. The streets are dirty. Salaries are so low it’s insulting. The standard of living is appalling. Nowhere is safe. Even bourgeois neighborhoods have become dangerous. The tax rate is absurd, yet public services are completely broken. Our leaders despise us. Political change is unimaginable. There is no meritocracy. Only conformity and obedience are valued and encouraged. Individual will is systematically obstructed or ridiculed. Independent thinking is severely punished. Freedom of expression has been destroyed. The administration is omnipresent and relentlessly makes your life miserable. Anyone in their right mind dreams only of fleeing.
How happy I am to have gotten out of this country.
