LFI is considered, rightly or wrongly, by many observers to be an "Islamo-leftist" movement. I note now that this will no longer be the case in less than a decade.
Certain shifts in the rhetoric of its leadership, some talking points adopted during their televised appearances, the choice of the seventh candidate on their list for the 2024 European elections, the political strategy initiated in 2019 and deepened since, along with its spectacular results in 2022, are all weak signals of a change in direction that will become increasingly apparent as future events unfold.
I predict that this party will gradually abandon the "leftist" aspect of its platform to fully embrace the "Islamo" option, which is far more electorally rewarding.
Whether through clientelism or conviction, it doesn’t matter—the progressive elements of their doctrine will gradually be erased in favor of an authentic and openly assumed Islamist-conservative stance.
The residual petty-bourgeois leftism aimed at the educated classes is merely the vehicle for cultural hegemony and will eventually disappear. Demographics will take care of the rest.
Those on the right who somewhat foolishly mock the incongruity of the movement’s sociological composition (the infamous alliance of the carp and the rabbit) will soon be left with nothing but tears.
Subtly, and on the margins, this shift has already begun. To notice it, one will simply need to pay close attention to the details in the future.
